37/365 Emily

37-365
It feel kind of  refreshing throwing some color out there after working with so much black and white.
I may start doing this from time to time.
I have found that if i can get a decent looking b/w conversion of the original,
the colors seem to look so much better.

35/365 Rat Rod

35-365 Rat Rod
One of my customer's rat rod.
I didn't have time to ask him anything about this car today. Hopefully I can call him in the near future and get the run down.
Ran it through the National Geographic script in GIMP

Here's to you two for making my life a little more
"colorful" there!

30/365 Smoke and Mirrors

30-365
Shot with one light directly over head and snooted.
Had compact mirror cupped in my hands to direct some of the light
back on to my face for kind of an eerie look.
The smoke effect was, well.... Smoke!
I was going for more of a shaft of light coming up out of my hand,
but did not materialize the way I expected.
This will be another project to come back to at
a later time.

27/365 Thinking With My Heart

27-365
Rough day today.
I really wanted to give up on this project and photography
all together.
I have never wanted anything more at this
point in my life to be a good photographer.
I can take critique, and feel I have pretty thick skin
when it comes to my "art", but was attacked personally today, and realized
that stuff still really gets to me.  Something I need to work on more, I guess
I was also frustrated because I have shit for equipment, and
am having to spend an hour rigging everything together just to get a shot.
I decided to just go within, and this is how this shot materialized.

Lighting info.
One cfl powered clamp light camera right, and bare, and one cfl powered clamp light
behind me facing my back for rim

26/365 My Humble Tribute to Lane Meyer

26-365
Scene from one of my all time favorite movies, Better off Dead.
Lane Meyer, played by John Cusack is the unlikely hero in this
1985 classic movie that documents typical teen angst of the era.
In many ways, I felt my life paralleled Lanes.  I did not obsess about
one girl, I obsessed over many.  I didn't end up with a bad ass 69
Camaro, or a French speaking Dian Franklin.  Hmm? I guess it really
wasn't like his life at all, but I could not be happier with where I am at
the moment!
Here's to you Lane!  King of the underdogs!

25/365 Waiting For Warm Weather!

25-365 Wanting Warm Weather!
Just your standard, run of the mill, boring portrait.
I had high hopes for this shot tonight, but it fell short.
Actually, I had something completely different in mind, but this
sort of just materialized.  I am trying to go more with the flow, and
just see what happens.  I tend to over think projects like this, so
this may just help in that area!

24/365 Fun With One Light

24-365-4
24-365-3
24-365-2
24-365
I have four entries for today's post.
This is Bobby and Robert.
I had a blast working with these two.
They both work out like crazy!
They are actually starting to motivate me a little to get off my ass!
The fun for me in this was working with what little light I had.
I am very happy with the results I got.
The lighting was actually very simple.
Used an $11.00 can light fitted with a 100w Ott color corrected bulb.
Fabricated a barn door out of a card board box.
I am very pleased with with the emphasized form and definition
it was able to produce.

23/365 I'm a Joker and a Smoker

23-365 I'm a Joker and a Smoker
I have been wanting to do something fun with this wig for a while.
I thought it might be interesting to do something a little more humorous.
I do smoke cigarettes, which is something I am not really proud of.
It is my only vice. Oh well.

20-365
Colored water drops on urethane masking paper.
I was not really feeling the project 365 today.
Too much going on in my life to give it much thought.
I had to do something, so I did a rather cliched shot.
I did realize that I made it through the dreaded 2 week hump.
I guess day 20 is a minor milestone for me.
I am determined to see this thing through!

9/365 Senseless Tragedy

9-365My thoughts of the little girl, Christina Taylor Greene, who was shot and killed yesterday along with 5 others, is weighing heavily on my mind.
This little girl had her whole life ahead of her, only to be taken away in an instant.
I can only imagine what her family must be going through.
My thoughts are with them.

I Heart Faces Challenge-Best Face of 2010

Emily

My first Challenge post for the new year. This is Emily. She likes to text... A lot! We were on our yearly road trip to see family in another state. For once, I didn't have to drive, so I had my camera out and caught this candid. It was snowing that day, so there was all this great light bouncing around in our truck.

Faith is a House of Cards

Faith is a house of cards
With the new year, I am sure there will be thoughts of rekindling faith and spirituality. To me, faith can be like a house of cards. It can destroy you under the weight, or it can shelter you and keep you warm.
